Design styles generally fall into 3 main catagories: Traditional, Contemporary or Mixed. No matter which category you lean into, Carlo Builders can help make that style unique to you. Let's take a glance at each style.
Traditional designs may also be called Classic, Warm or Feminine. Traditional design looks are timeless and tend to appeal to all generations and cultures. Traditional designs hold a sense of austerity and authenticity and often includes historical elements. It is heavy on the use of wood tones and accented with deep and rich colors that you might find in nature. Distressed cabinetry and ornate trim work are sometimes incorporated.
Contemporary designs may also be called Modern, Trendy or Masculine. Contemporary designs are uncluttered and carry an overall sense of simplicity. Clean lines and seamless transitions are their hallmark, along with impressive, delightful or innovative surprises in functionality. Modern designs can also be described as dynamic and evolving, drawing upon current fashions and culture trends.
Mixed designs may also be called Transitional or Balanced. This style mixes elements from multiple design styles in a harmonious way through the use of seamless transitions. Rustic-Contemporary is an example of a Mixed style. Mixed styles are obtained by weaving different design elements together by a common thread, a thread most easily applied by the use of color. For this reason Mixed styles rely heavily on the use of mutued or neutral tones like grays, whites, creams, taupes and tans, mixed and matched in an intelligent way. Using our example, we might combine cream-colored old-world stone flooring with cream-colored marble countertops.
